The Rolex Datejust is the ‘poster boy’ for Rolex. Globally recognised as one of the most popular watches in the world and certainly one of the most versatile. The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust, since its release in 1945, has seen a multitude of different case materials from stainless steel to platinum, dial variations of every colour under the sun, set in an array of different styles, bezel variations and repeatedly improved mechanics. Whether you like the model or not, there is no denying that a Rolex Datejust is the definition of a ‘timeless watch’.

This particular reference is a 1603, it has a striking silver ‘pie pan’ dial with silver and black ‘stick’ hour markers, lume plots and clear black type. The watch is fitted with silver hands, a date window at 3 o’clock and rare stainless steel bezel. The distinctive bezel is mounted on the 36mm stainless-steel oyster case which has remained in good condition although showing general wear consistent with its age such as hairline scratches and some light dinks. It is paired with a stainless-steel USA made Rolex Jubilee bracelet with 55 end links. The bracelet is in good condition but holds slack which is typical of the USA jubilee bands of this period. The plexi has some light tarnishing. Housed behind the semi bubble-back case back is an automatic Rolex cal. 1560 movement which is running well. The watch comes with its period Rolex box, an array of Rolex service paperwork including its service guarantee dated 2001.
